Testing the Drug Ritlecitinib for People Ages 12 Years and Older with Alopecia Areata

Alopecia areata is a condition that causes hair loss from the body. This study will test a drug called Ritlecitinib to treat people with the condition. The study drug Ritlecitinib 100 mg will be compared to Ritlecitinib 50 mg. The study wants to see if 100 mg once daily dose will help people with the condition and is safe. People in the study will receive one of the two doses (50 mg daily or 100 mg daily) of the study drug. Being in the study requires attending up to 9 study visits at the clinic over about 57 weeks.

Inclusion Criteria
- Ages 12 years and older
- Diagnosis of Alopecia Areata, and no other causes of hair loss
- Lost at least 50% hair on the scalp, with no regrowth in the past 6 months
Exclusion Criteria
- Other diseases or conditions affecting hair loss
- Mental health condition including recent or active suicidal thoughts or behavior
- History of specific infections
- Hearing loss with progression over the previous 5 years
- Current or history of cancer
