Reducing Harmful Bacteria in the Mouth with Twice-Daily Tooth Brushing
(IRB#: IRB_00182886)
This study will test a new toothpaste that may help reduce harmful bacteria in the mouth, specifically Streptococcus mutans (S.mutans), which is known to cause cavities in teeth. The new toothpaste targets these harmful bacteria while supporting the growth of good bacteria that help keep the mouth healthy. The study wants to see if the daily routine with the toothpaste lowers the levels of S. mutans and improves the overall balance of bacteria in the mouth, which may help reduce the risk of cavities. Participants in this study will brush their teeth twice a day with the assigned toothpaste for 28 days. Being in the study requires attending 3 in-person visits at the study clinic.
