Testing the Drug Iptacopan in People with Idiopathic Immune Complex Mediated Membraneoproliferative Glomerulonephritis

(IRB#: IRB_00175737)

Idiopathic immune complex mediated membraneoproliferative glomerulonephritis (IC-MPGN) is a rare, severe disorder of excessive activation of the alternative complement pathway (AP). AP is an important part of immune system in the body which provides protection against infections. However, an over-activated AP is believed to contribute to several kidney diseases, including IC-MPGN. This study will test a drug called Iptacopan to treat adults with this disorder. The study wants to see if the drug will help people and is safe. People in the study will be randomly chosen to be treated with Iptacopan or a placebo. The placebo looks like the drug but does not have the medication. Being in the study requires about 15 study visits at the study clinic over 21 months. Medical tests will be done during the study to track the health of participants.
