Skill Learning Study for Teens

This study will learn more about emotions and behaviors, especially self-injury, suicide attempts, and interpersonal relationships. This study will see how teaching certain skills might help teens (ages 13 to 17 years old) and their parents during times of stress. Participants in the study will complete surveys and interviews. Some participants will also have images taken of the brain. Being in the study lasts about 10 weeks with a 6-month follow-up visit. Study visits will be in person at the study clinic some visits could be on Zoom. The information gained will help develop useful therapies for teens and parents.

 Gender: All genders

  Age: Over 7 years old

  Volunteers: Volunteers with special conditions

   Location: In Person

Inclusion Criteria

  • Ages 13-17 with a legal guardian willing to participate
  • Experienced a suicide attempt or mental health hospitalization
  • Internet access
  • Mobile device access

Exclusion Criteria

  • Has metal braces or claustrophobia (fear of small spaces) due to brain scans
