U-STEP: A Health App for People with Peripheral Vascular Disease

(IRB#: IRB_00162534)

The vascular system is made up of vessels that carry blood in the body and lymph (fluid in the body that carries white blood cells to fight infection). Vascular surgery is a way to help people with arterial diseases (narrowing of the blood vessels that reduce blood flow) and venous diseases (veins in the legs do not move enough blood back toward the heart). Such as peripheral vascular disease (PVD) a circulation (how the blood flows through the body) disease. The purpose of the surgery is to improve a persons quality of life, pain, and ability to function. The goal of our research is to see if using a smartphone app helps vascular surgeons and patients track their overall health. The information we gain may aid future patients.
