Studying Human Cognition Using Electrophysiological Monitoring for People with Neurological Disorders
(IRB#: IRB_00153370)
Electrophysiological monitoring is a study device placed on the brain to record brain signals responsible for human behavior such as language, memory, and decision-making. This study will better understand human cognition (thinking) and human epilepsy (a neurological disorder of the brain causing seizures) in people having neurosurgery for epilepsy that does not respond to medication or deep brain stimulation. The study lasts about 15 to 30 minutes while having the already planned surgery along with a follow-up visit 6 to 9 months after surgery.
