Testing Additional Implanted Microelectrodes During Monitoring for Epilepsy Surgery
(IRB#: IRB_00114691)
Epilepsy is a disorder in the nerve cells of the brain that can cause seizures. A microelectrode is a group of small wires used for recording brain activity. Microelectrodes help to understand epilepsy. This study will use microelectrodes to study seizures. People in the study will already be planning to have surgery for seizures. During surgery, people receive the same treatment and have an additional bundle of wires implanted along with standard electrodes into the brain. These will be removed at the end of the standard hospital stay.
